Art That Doesn’t Suck - October 5, 2007
This week’s featured art is Homage to Mondrian II by Elf Evans
This piece is an tribute to the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, whose work you are probably familiar with whether you know his name or not. Mondrian was most famous for his grid work featuring bold lines and seemingly randomly colored squares. Homage to Mondrian II recreates this style using champagne glasses on a yellow background.
Glass is not the easiest thing to get right - you want to make sure all the reflections are just so and the lighting is perfect. Mr. Evans clearly has a talent for studies in glass. The composition is great and the use of color is bold and fantastic.
This is the second in a series of Mondrian-style photographs.
The frame and mat are perfect, though they can be changed by the buyer - and don’t forget, art at Imagekind may be purchased without either.
Prices for Homage to Mondrian II begin at $19.78, subject to change.
