Art That Doesn’t Suck - January 19, 2008

This week’s featured art is From Within by Anne Vis

I was doing some maintenance on the site yesterday, and I came across One Second, by Anne Vis. I was inspired to check out her galleries again, and was thrilled to find From Within.

Another of Anne’s excellent fractals, what really drew me to it was the framing - not the physical frame (although the one she chose is great), but the artistic border that surrounds the shell-shaped spiral in the center.

“surrounds the shell-shaped spiral in the center”… say that ten times fast!

As I said, the physical frame chosen here is great, and I’m very happy to see it without a mat. Shoppers may choose a different frame or mat, however.

Prices for From Within begin at $58.49, subject to change.

Artist Profile - Fractals, Fantasy and New Galaxies

Randall Klopping

Few artists have produced an entire body of work that I find as fascinating as Randall Klopping’s. It is my sincere pleasure to launch this new Artist Profiles feature by presenting samples of Randall’s work.

Although Randall is a man of physical and mental disabilities, his work is nothing short of brilliant. His pieces are highly detailed with fantastic use of color, light and shading.

Never one to slack, Randall has created some timely holiday-themed pieces that can be found in his his Christmas-Specials gallery.

These are samples from but one of Randall’s galleries: SciFi-2. I heartily recommend clicking into his profile to view the rest of his work. There are very few pieces that I would not give my highest commendations to.

Art That Doesn’t Suck - October 12, 2007

This week’s featured art is One Second … by Anne Vis

I really envy anyone that can put together a really compelling fractal. I’ve tried without any success whatsoever.

There’s a cosmic quality to this piece that really works. It’s almost mesmerizing. The color is fantastic and the attention to detail is clear. Fractals are much more than simply letting the computer generate some seemingly random shapes.

The frame and mat are great, they really match the artwork perfectly. Like any art at Imagekind though, they can be customized by the buyer. Click on through for more information and to see a larger view.

Prices for One Second … begin at $58.49, subject to change.
